912 Project Des Moines has found our military family to sponsor for the Christmas Season. The family consists of a 30 year old
wounded veteran and his two sons, ages 6 and 3. We will be donating items on this family's Christmas Wish List, including a
dining room table, a Nintendo game system and several smaller items. This is being coordinated through the FGR at Camp Dodge. If
you are able and would like to contribute to this cause, please contact us at info@912projectdesmoines.com for details.
At
our next weekly meeting (Thursday, December 17th), we'll be taking a group photo to put into a Christmas card to send along with the
gifts. If possible, we'd like to have as many of our group members there for the picture as pssible (hint, hint).

In other news, Lynn recently spent an hour in a face to face meeting with House Representative Tom Latham. They discussed what's
happening in D.C., the forces behind what is happening and what our group can continue to do to stop the growth of government takeover
of our lives. We plan to continue with our letter writing campaign (see "Write your Reps" on the menu on the right) and have
several other ideas/plans for the coming months.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years from the 9-12 Project Des Moines. Due to the holidays, our next meeting will be on Thursday
January 7th, 2010. We had a good meeting on December 17th, wrapping about $700 worth of gifts for our "adopted" family and discussing
our group goals for 2010. God bless, stay safe and we'll see you next year!!!!!
Please take two minutes out of your day to click HERE and send a postcard of gratitude to our deployed soldiers who cannot be with
their families this holiday season...
Join us at our weekly meetups for our self-study course on The 5,000 Year Leap, published by The National Center for
Constitiutional Studies (NCCS.net). This is the book that explains the 28 Principles the Founding Fathers used as the basis
for our Constitution, our limited government and our American way of life.

In the meantime, there are several things happening around the state. Senator Grassley has several events scheduled around
the state (Click HERE for his schedule). As usual, I can't find any similar information from Senator Harkin.
Monday
January 11th is the opening session of our state legislature at the capitol in Des Moines. The Des Moines Tea Party Group is
leading a 9:00 am gathering of conservatives at the capitol to remind the reps that we are watching them.

Brad Zaun will be speaking at our weekly meeting in Ankeny this week-January 28th at 6:30 pm. Brad is the third candidate running
for the Republican nomination to challenge Leonard Boswell for Iowa's District 3 House of Representatives Seat. This is a good
night for those of you who haven't made it to a meeting to come see what we're all about and look a candidate in the eye while you're
at it. If you know of other organizations that would like to meet with candidates, let us know and we can help get you in touch
with them!

This past week we were joined at our weekly meeting by Iowa House of Representative District 3 Candidate Jim Gibbons.
Mr Gibbons talked about his personal history and how and why he decided to run for public office. He then fielded questions
from our group members. The 9-12 Project Des Moines has also had candidate Dave Funk speak to our group this past year
and will be inviting candidate Brad Zaun to speak in the near future. At this time, the group is not endorsing any particular
candidate and we have members actively working for both Mr. Gibbons and Mr. Funk. Saturday January 23rd, several of our members
attended caucus meetings and became designated delegates for their precincts.
Saturday February 13th the 9-12 Project Des Moines will be having a combination post-Christmas/New Years, pre-deployment adios
party. Details will be determined in the next week, but at this time we believe it will be held at Corey's Irish Pub in Bondurant
and cost will be about $15 per person for a pasta buffet and drinks. Friends who have been with us over the past year and those
who would like to find out more about us in an informal atmosphere are invited to attend.....
Iowa House of Representatives District 3 Representative Dave Funk will be speaking and answering questions at our February 11th meeting.
In January we also hosted candidates Brad Zaun and Jim Gibbons.

In the last week alone, we've heard from Iowa House of Representatives District 3 Candidate Dave Funk, had our first year anniversary/soldier
deployment going away party and some of our members just returned from a Legislative Breakfast meeting at the state capital.

This week (March 4th) our group will be hosting Rod Roberts, Republican candidate for governor, and asking him to sign off the 9-12 Candidates
Pledge. Come join us Thursday at Benchwarmers for a Q and A session with Mr. Roberts.
It is the time of year in
our political process when candidates are scrambling to get the necessary petition signatures to get themselves on the primary ballots.
We have members working for several different candidates. If you would like to get involved in your area, contact us and we can connect
you.
Better yet, to be a part of everything we have planned for the coming year, stop by one of our weekly meetings or
contact us through our Join Us link on the left.
